Adventures in moving

Last time we sold a house, we were buying another 15 miles away... and that was hair-raising trying to close escrow on both. Our buyer almost fell out of escrow, but our own realtor gave up his fees to help our buyer purchase our house so that we wouldn't then, in succession, fall out of escrow on the house we were buying....

Now we're doing it with houses 2300 miles apart! We can afford to buy a house in Ohio without having sold this one... but we'd rather not! That feels like counting chickens before they're hatched. Our buyer has 17 days from today to show proof of funding... and 17 days from today is also the day we are flying out to Ohio to look at houses! We had already scheduled our travel dates before we sold our house! How close is that? Our realtor has worked with the other realtor one time before... and he did not show proof of funding within 17 days... so she canceled the sale. He was a bit shocked... he didn't think she would do it... but she did! Eeek!!

So anyway... we're off to Ohio on May 11th and I won't return until May 16th... and I won't be blogging then. But y'all are used to me not blogging. ;o) Now that our house is "sold" though, I can relax a bit and spend more time in blog land... when the house and termite inspectors aren't here.... and when I'm not getting estimates from movers....

I'm so amazed that your house sold so very quickly! That's quite cool. Congratulations. Here's praying it all goes just as it should.

I'm so excited! One more very cool person in Ohio! I hope everything goes smoothly for you guys. We went through the same sort of trouble and it's no picnic. Very hard on the nerves.

The Bennets

Taking a cue from Zelie I've decided to rename my kids after the five daughters in one of my favorite literary works "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. Henceforth my five daughters shall be known as Jane, Elizabeth "Lizzy", Mary, Catherine "Kitty", and Lydia. It will be a bit confusing for me at first, as our Elisabeth will not be Elizabeth. ;o) But it will be fun. I've always had a hard time giving my youngest three clever names, and now this will solve the problem. I will change their names in the side bar later.
