Jane - born in Holland, land of the tulips.

Jane is nearly sixteen (gasp) so I took her to take the exam for her drivers permit yesterday. She passed, missing only two questions. To celebrate we went to lunch at O'Charleys... one of her favorite restaurants and amazingly inexpensive when you don't have the entire crew along. ;) I love watching her grow into a young lady, and I love spending time with her. All you moms of only littles, longing for grown-up conversation in your day-to-day lives... hang in there... almost far too quickly they're old enough to engage in charming, witty and intelligent conversation. It makes for a pleasant ladies day out.

Hello:)
I have a daughter who just turned 15, and is talking about getting her permit, and I hope I'm as ready as you seem to be:) I live in Ohio also, and I feel it's too young for our kids to drive at age 15, but at least the kids are with an adult and it will be good practice for them. I'll have your daughter in my prayers, so when she's behind the wheel, she'll be safe. I saw your recipes, and thanks for posting, I'm going to make the spinich with beef:) Take care, Elisa:)

I know what you mean. It has been so nice to spend time with my Bard because she's no longer a child. While she still has that youthful energy, she's also very much a young lady. It's so pleasant to spend time with her.

Happy (early?) Birthday, Jane!

What a pretty young lady by pretty flowers. Glad the 2 of you had a wonderful lunch together.

Oh no. Teen passing drivers test and celebrate do NOT go together! I don't even want to think about it, can you tell?

Well, congratulations Jane, and mom, I'm glad you had a good day!

Congratulations on the permit! I have two teenage daughters that are wonderful to talk to also! It is such a blessing to have a close relationship with them!

My 9yod T and I went to Jo-Ann fabrics last Sunday to pick out quilting fabrics. I was stumped with choosing 5 fabrics to use and almost ready to give up when T hopped away and brought back a fabric that I never would have thought to pick but really loved. As I was exclaiming over her choice she hopped away and came back with another that also went extrememly well with the others. I was so happy with our finds and as we drove home I kept thinking that I felt like I had been out shopping with a friend instead of my 9yo. It was so neat. Thanks for your post here.
