It looks like Sonlight's coming in....

Y'all have probably realized the struggle I've been going through for the past year of what curriculum to use with my younger ones. When I first started my homeschooling journey years ago, all the old timers cautioned me not to go with "canned" curriculum. "Plan your own!" they cried. "The glory of homeschooling is flexibility!" they exclaimed. So for years I pulled together an eclectic mix... trying this, trying that, creating gaps, backtracking and filling them... I can tell you I've tried just about every popular and not so popular textbook/workbook/unit study among homeschoolers today...

And I finally came to the conclusion... I need canned. I want canned. I want everything planned for me so I have time to milk goats, bake fresh bread, do laundry, and otherwise manage more than a handful of hectares and a handful of kids.

I want a set path to follow... and of course there's room for rabbit trails and adding an AVKO speller if need be... but there is one solid path to make sure everything gets done along the way without leaving any potholes...

So after researching, reading, praying, I finally settled upon Sonlight. I've joined some e-mail lists and wonderful Chris from The Big Yellow House sent me some K & 1st teacher's manuals from Sonlight. Looking over them I'm really exicted. I think we've finally found a fit... after all these years! And just in time for the fresh new school year.

A bright new Son-lit morning arriving...

What a gorgeous picture! Is this the view of your driveway from your house? I'm jealous!

Yes, it's the view from my front porch looking up my driveway. I'm looking forward to the fall color... the yellow poplars are already turning yellow and losing some leaves. I'll have to post a pic then, too, and perhaps a winter one...

I was so pleased to see the comment was you Melanie, I've been deleting spammers all day, LOL
